Kindergarten Picnic

The Horn kindergartners took a walking field trip to Kiwanis Park to celebrate the end of the school year.  I joined them for the walk and Grandma and Grandpa brought the boys over to join us.  The kids enjoyed picnic lunches, lots and lots of playtime, group pictures and popsicles.

Pigman

June 1st was a big day for me.  I've wanted to complete a triathlon for a long time and I finally decided to sign up and do one.  I hadn't been specifically training for triathlon but I've spent the past year getting back into shape and I was pretty sure I would be able to finish it.  I went for a swim one day just to make sure I still knew how.  While at the pool, I met a small group of women doing triathlon training.  They invited me along for an open swim at Kent Park which proved to be very helpful in preparing me for the race.  I also took one long bike ride and realized I needed to get my bike into the shop quickly so I'd have all of my gears while racing.  A second bike ride was needed so I could practice drinking from my water bottle while on the bike.  It is harder than it looks.  To finish off my "training," I went for a 5 mile run.  The race ended with a 5K, so I wanted to attempt a longer run to make sure I could keep going after swimming and biking.  Dan had the kids that morning and I headed to Palo to compete in my first triathlon.  I skipped the wet suit and used a mountain bike but still did pretty well for my first tri.  This won't be my last but it may be my last on a mountain bike.

Spring Playgroup

This spring, I had the privilege of spending time with some wonderful preschoolers.  They joined us once a week for afternoons filled with lunch, stories, baking, play time, races, singing, dancing, art and fun with friends!  It was such a pleasure to open my home to these friends and a great reminder of how much I enjoy teaching.

kindergarten share day

Sylvia's kindergarten class had a share day at the end of the year.  Each child got to bring something from home to share with the class.  Sylvia chose Scotts and was very excited to have a new special leash to take him to school with.

Habitat Wall Build

We took the kids to Our Redeemer Church for a Habitat for Humanity wall build.  They had fun hammering away at the nails and helping out.  What a great opportunity to serve together as a family.

Friday Fun (5/30/14)

Tuesday, Thursday Preschool

Erickson finished his first year of preschool at the end of May.  He had such a good time being social with his teachers and classmates on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this year.  Eric is full of ideas and questions so preschool is just the place for him.  We're very thankful for teachers who love him and care for him while he's away.

Eric posed everybody for this picture and then put his arms around them.  He loves his preschool teachers.
