Tuesday, Thursday Preschool

Erickson finished his first year of preschool at the end of May.  He had such a good time being social with his teachers and classmates on Tuesday and Thursday mornings this year.  Eric is full of ideas and questions so preschool is just the place for him.  We're very thankful for teachers who love him and care for him while he's away.

Yellow Day

We finished the preschool year by learning the Yellow Song.

Eric's Special Day

Eric had his last special day of Tuesday, Thursday preschool on Dan's birthday.  He was so excited to take his "constructions" in to share with his preschool friends.  His class took a walking field trip that day so Eric picked banana mini muffins and juice boxes for snack.  There were only three more days of preschool left and each morning Eric would ask if it was his special day again.  Special days are a big deal in preschool!

Eric's Spring Program

Eric's preschool class performed at the spring program earlier this month.  Eric doesn't sing a lot at home so I wasn't sure how much singing he would do on stage but he did pretty well.  I think he had a lot of fun with his class.

Blue Day

Whether the weather be hot...

Kindergarten students at Horn entertained their families this spring at their music performance.  They have been practicing so hard during music class with Mrs. Hagan and their hard work showed.  I was impressed with how well organized it was and that each students got to do something special like play an instrument or use the parachute.  Sylvia asked a me a few weeks before the performance if I wanted to hear the songs or if she should keep them a secret for the concert.  I left it up to her and she immediately started singing them!  She followed Mrs. Hagan's wardrobe requests and picked out her own outfit that day.

Sylvia's big smile shows how much she loves her homeroom teacher, Ms. Jensen and how excited she was about the spring concert.  We sure are going to miss kindergarten

Spring Dance

Sylvia and Eric finished up another semester of dance class with Miss Aubrey.  Rather than having a spring share, the parents were invited to sit in on a dance class to see all of the activities the kids do.  It was so much fun to watch what both classes have been learning this semester.  Sylvia has been in dance for a few years now and I can really see how much she's grown.  Miss Aubrey does such a great job with all of them and has so much patience for the little ones.

Eric's family party

We celebrated Eric's birthday with our extended family a few days after his birthday.  They joined us for dinner, gift opening and cake.

We enjoyed the leftover robot cake.  Sylvia and Eric each ate most of one of the robots feet.  They were very big pieces of cake.

Before heading to bed, Eric tried out his new batman pajamas from Bill & Becky.

Eric's Birthday Share Day

Erickson enjoyed getting ready to celebrate his birthday at preschool.  He put the sprinkles on the popcorn after I coated it with almond bark.

Eric's birthday share day was also Red, White and Blue day preschool.

Eric had a little trouble deciding what to take for share time.  He finally decided on the Wedgits after we talked about what toys he likes to play with at home.  He also took along his new "robot arm" that we bought for his birthday party.

Pink Day

Eric did a hunt through the house looking for pink things for his preschool picture.

Eric's Special Day

Eric's special day was rescheduled in February after school was canceled on the original day.  He picked out his lion shirt to wear and wanted to take Mousy for share time.  Grandma watched Drake so I could stick around and play during centers time.  I love spending time with the kids while there in school when I get the chance.

Eric's Christmas Program

The Tuesday, Thursday preschool students worked hard to prepare for their Christmas Program at the end of the semester.  I would overhear Eric singing Christmas songs from time to time, but I didn't know how many of them he knew the words to.  It was fun to watch him sing along with the other boys and girls.  One of his best friends, Hayden, is in the other preschool class so they don't get to see each other at school very often.  We weren't sure how well they'd do standing next to each other based on their history but the concert ended up being uneventful (in a good way).

Winter Dance Share

Eric joined Sylvia in dance this fall and they both now take classes from Miss Aubrey.  Sylvia had a little bit of trouble adjusting to dance class after a full day of school but she's settling in well now.  Eric has been dancing along with Sylvia for some time now and I think he's excited to finally have a class to go to.  Thanks to Miss Aubrey for investing in my little ones.

Eric has a friend in his class and this is how they wanted to pose together.  I sometimes wonder what class is like with these two in it but I haven't gotten any bad reports.

Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

Eric's preschool class celebrating Thanksgiving by preparing food for a feast and decorating turkey cookies.  I helped out at the cookie table.  The kids also made popcorn and fry bread in the classroom and also ate apple sauce and turkey during the feast.

We Like Sheep

This fall, Sylvia had the opportunity to be a part of Parkview Church's performance of We Like Sheep.  She has been very interested in theater and this was the perfect entry.  A big thank you to Beth Noeller and the other helpers for all their time.  The kids practiced on Saturday and Sunday mornings for a couple of months before the big performance in November.  All of the sheep memorized Psalm 23 and recited it.  Sylvia's dance class also performed so she was a busy girl that evening.  Sylvia wanted to make sure pastor Jeff knew about the play so she asked me to call and invite him.  He picked her up and gave her a big hug after the performance and thanked her for the special invitation.

Orange Day

We were able to get a second color picture from our garden with this pepper.

I was able to stay and help out in Eric's preschool class on Orange Day.  They started the mornings with The Orange Song.  

During centers, I carved a pumpkin with the kids.  Eric isn't a big fan of pumpkin guts but he likes his mommy so he stopped by for a visit.  

He also got to decorate a pumpkin cookie with one of my favorite people, Mrs. Potter.
