Thanksgiving

We celebrated Thanksgiving at our house this year.  My mom and mother-in-law helped out by bringing side dishes, and Sylvia and Eric helped me with the decorations.  My new friend, Vrushali, joined us while her family was away in India.  Her daughter, Pritika, is in Sylvia's kindergarten class.  I don't think I'll be up for hosting every year but we'll try this again soon.

Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

Eric's preschool class celebrating Thanksgiving by preparing food for a feast and decorating turkey cookies.  I helped out at the cookie table.  The kids also made popcorn and fry bread in the classroom and also ate apple sauce and turkey during the feast.

Thanksgiving Feast

Sylvia's preschool class celebrated Thanksgiving with a feast.  They ate turkey, cranberry jello, mashed potatoes, rolls, carrots, a turkey cookie (made during centers) and a piece of cake (from their HyVee field trip).  I volunteered in the kitchen and got to attend the feast with my little turkey.

With two family babies due in December, the Hoefers decided to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas back in November.

Baking Christmas cookies together may have become a family tradition now that we've done it two years in a row. The cousins worked great together taking on different jobs so there would be yummy cookies to eat.
I love opening stockings at my parents' house. There are always so many fun little (and sometimes) big things in them. Sylvia is starting to get the hang of it. Eric's still not sure what he things about stockings.
Great Nana joined us for our Thanksmas celebration. I had each of the grand kids draw a picture for her and we put them together in a little book. She was thrilled with her gift.

Sylvia is starting to like playing video games with her cousins in Grandma and Grandpa's playroom. If you take a close look you can see that they're playing an original Nintendo. Sonic is usually the game of choice.

Preschool Thanksgiving Feast

Parkview Christian Preschool celebrated Thanksgiving on November 17. The kids were learning about life long ago and finished the theme with a "classroom made" feast. They had meatballs, popcorn, applesauce, fry bread, and turkey cookies. My mom watched Eric, and I was able to volunteer in the classroom for the day. I am so thankful to be staying home with the kids this year but it has been difficult to be away from preschool...especially with Sylvia there on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm glad there are opportunities for me to be involved and watch her experience and enjoy going to school.

Enjoying the feast. I was proud of my little girl for not only trying all of the food but eating all of the food. I didn't even need to serve her lunch when we got home.
