Happy Birthday Daddy!

May Special Day

Your special day at preschool is a pretty big deal when it rolls around.  Sylvia had her final special day at the beginning of May.  She helped at calendar time, got to be the line leader, brought snack for the class and shared a few special things with her class at the end of the day.

Smiling at Mrs. Fink after she dressed the girl for the weather.

Elizabeth and Sylvia at the flower shop.

Easel painting with Mrs. Berends.
Sylvia was so excited to add lots of dots to finish off her painting.
Mrs. Berends likes dots!

Finishing up her ABC book with Parker.
Picking out and coloring a couple of pictures was her weekly preschool homework.

Sylvia brought her pillow pet and treasure box in for share time.  She had a very hard time deciding what to bring for this one last time to share with her class but she was excited once she did decide.

It's a Good Mornin'

These kids love to paint but it's harder to do as frequently now that we have three.  I'm trying to say yes more often and it should be easier now that we can take the paint outside during the summer.  This video reminds me to say, "yes" more often when they want to do fun things that take a little more effort on my part.

The words to the song are perfect.  You can listen here.

Smellin' Coffee by Chris Rice
Last thing I remember saying bye to yesterday
Glad to see it over, pullin’ covers over my head
But what were You doin’ while I dreamt the night away
‘Cause I can tell that somethin’s different and
My eyes ain’t even open yet

I’m smellin’ coffee, birds are singin’ just outside
Here comes Your mercy streamin’ in with the morning light
My heart is racin’, wakin’ up to You’re smile
It’s a good mornin’, It's a good mornin’

I remember readin’ You’re the God who never sleeps
And while I’ve been dreamin’ You’ve been singin’ over me, yeah
Singin’ about my freedom, wakin’ me up to hear Your song
Now I can’t dance hard enough
‘Cause yesterday is gone, gone, gone!

Every little breath, every heartbeat
Is a gift of love that You give to me
You keep givin’ even when I’m asleep
‘Cause I know You never stop watchin’ over me
I wake up, my past is gone
‘Cause Your mercy’s new with the mornin’ sun
I’m forgiven, I’m free, it’s a brand new day
‘Cause Your faithfulness is the greatest, hey!

Germonino!

It has been a rainy spring but we're trying to make the most of it.  It has been so fun to have all three of them out playing together.

Spring Share

We were blessed again to have take dance at Parkview with Miss Aubrey.  Aubrey shares her love for dance and her love for the Lord with our little ones and all of us moms are so thankful for that!

Easter

We had fun learning about and celebrating Easter for a whole week at our house this year using these cards I found online.  Sylvia worked hard on the Easter story block set and took them to preschool for her share day.  The kids worked on our spring mural for a few days.  They came up with many things that Jesus loves.  Sylvia wrote this message on the stem all by herself.

"Palm day at
Jerusalem when Jesus died on the died on the cross.  Jesus rose from the dead.  Thank you for you did on the cross."

We "egged" a few of our friends and neighbors and made a card for a friend who was sick.  Instead of making a graham cracker tomb like suggested, the kids did "magic painting."  I wrote "Jesus Loves Sylvia" and "Jesus Loves Eric" in white crayon on watercolor paper.  They then painting to see what the secret message was.  We finished out our week by opening an empty gift to remind us that the tomb was empty (this got mixed reviews).

Easter day didn't go quite as planned since our family had been sick.  I stayed home with Drake, while Dan took Sylvia and Eric to church with Nana and Papa.  We made the most of our weekend by taking plastic Easter eggs in and out of a cardboard box, dying hard boiled eggs, and going on a scavenger hunt.  We'd been reading Where Are Baby's Easter Eggs all week so I sent the kids on a hunt through our house and yard just like they do in the book.  We also enjoyed quick visits from the grandparents.

Erickson is 3!

I can't believe Eric is already 3.  He has so much fun celebrating his birthday with friends and family in March.  We can't believe how much he's grown up in the last 6 months.  Looking like such a big boy now.

Three brought about potty training for Eric.  Dan took Sylvia and Drake for an entire day while I stayed home and filled Eric with fluids and took him potty many, many times.  The final count was 27, I believe!  He's still working on it but I'm proud of how far he's come.

We waited for some nice weather and took his 3 year old pictures in our back yard.

Sylvia's Special Day

Sylvia had one of her preschool special days in back in March.  Mrs. Nelson was filling in for Mrs. Fink which meant that Mrs. Potter (her associate teacher from last year) was also there.  This was super exciting for Sylvia.

Singing the weather song.

Adding her "Jesus Loves Sylvia" heart to the cross.

Eric took a break on the couch during Sylvia's share time.

Sharing her Easter story blocks with her class.

Singing the good-bye song with her class (and her little brother).

Green Day

Preschool Green Day was back in March.  Here's Sylvia's green picture and a video of her class singing The Green Song.
