Pudding Painting

Today at preschool, the students got to finger paint with pudding. Mrs. Berends sent the leftovers home with me for Sylvia to enjoy...and enjoy it she did! She didn't even know what pudding was before starting this project but I'm pretty sure she won't forget now.

Spring is on its way...

Our family is looking forward to spring and spending more and more time outside. Dan took advantage of the nice weather and trimmed our trees. Erickson has been enjoying the swing as well as crawling around on the deck. The yard is too wet to let him loose. Sylvia has made her way into the sandbox a couple of times now. The sand has been perfect for building castles, etc. since it hasn't dried out yet.

Happy Valentine's Day

Dan and I enjoyed dinner out a couple of nights ago and get to be home with the kids tonight. Sylvia is excited to eat a heart shaped pizza.Eric is wearing the shirt that Sylvia wore for Valentine's Day last year. I can't believe how big he's getting.Sylvia didn't have a Valentine's shirt so I made this one for her. I got the shirt for $1.50 at Target and already had the rest of the supplies. We did take a trip back to Target yesterday to buy some pink pants that I'd seen on sale but didn't buy the first time around.

Photo Shoot

Eric's First Haircut

I originally thought we'd give Eric his first haircut after he turned one. However, he has way more hair than Sylvia did at his age, and it was starting to get a little out of control. He was also starting to get food in it when he ate. Tonight, as I popped him into his highchair for dinner, I decided to take advantage of how still he was sitting and give him a trim. Eric does not sit still very often. It wasn't the easiest thing to do but it turned out pretty well. He may have consumed a small bit of hair as it fell onto the food he was eating. Sylvia has been asking about a haircut ever since I got mine cut a few months ago. Watching Eric get his cut tonight brought up the conversation again so we may give her a trim sometime. Her hair grew in pretty evenly (once she got some) so we haven't cut it yet.

Snow Day

Sylvia told me that daddy needs to shovel the snow drift on our deck. I don't think we'll be grilling for a little while. Dan headed out this morning to shovel and was quickly joined by our neighbor and his giant snow plow. We ate a breakfast of yummy pancakes. Sylvia ate three all by herself.

Thanks to our truck, Dan was able to head to work. The kids and I stopped by our neighbor's briefly this morning. Eric did not enjoy being out so I put him down for a nap and headed out to play with Sylvia. She loves the snow and wasn't bothered at all by the cold. It was sunny and windy out, hence the squinty eyes in the picture of me and Sylvia.

Sylvia spent a long time this morning jumping around in our bedroom. She figured out that she could jump from our chair to the bed an did it over and over again.

All Fired Up

We took Sylvia to All Fired Up a few weeks ago after she had a successful week of using the potty. I love watching her be creative. She had so much fun painting a butterfly container and mug that she picked out.

Dan went and picked up her pottery earlier this week. We waitied to get it until she had another successful week. She loved using her new mug for hot cocoa today.

Sledding

We walked over to City Park this past weekend to take Sylvia sledding. Daddy went first to show her it was safe and then I went down with her once. We talked her into going on her own a few times as long as mommy was at the top to help her get started and daddy was at the bottom to catch. Sylvia wanted Eric to take a turn but we passed.
After sledding, we stopped at the playground. Sylvia went down the slide a few times and played on the fire engine and airplane. We tried swinging but her boots wouldn't fit thorough the leg holes in the swings (they only have baby swings). After a fun time at the park, Eric and Dan headed back with the stroller and I pulled Sylvia back on the sled. Sylvia wanted her picture taken with the sunset before we left.
