Feeding the Ducks

Sylvia and I went for a walk in City Park this afternoon and fed the ducks. She loved chasing after them with her piece of bread. After getting a piece of bread from me, She would pick out a duck and follow it until it flew away or went into the river. It took some convincing to get her to throw her bread to the ducks.

She also needed reminding a couple of times that the bread was for the ducks...not for her to eat.

I honestly think she would have walked right into the river if I'd let her. She always signs the word please when we walk by it on walks.

I think we'll be frequenting the park this summer as it is a good way to get out of the house for a short time. The rides were up and running today and I'm glad Sylvia didn't take too much notice of them because I didn't bring any money with me.

This video captures it all...trying to eat the bread herself, picking a duck and following it around, and finally throwing her bread.

My Peanut on the Boat

We took Sylvia out on my parents' boat for the first time this summer. She really liked the rocking of the boat while we ate dinner and the wind in her face while we drove around.

I think she'll like the water a little better once it warms up some. She smiled and laughed but didn't want to stay in for too long.

Check out all that hair!

Take a look at how much she's grown since last year.

Sound Recognition

While playing outside the other day, Sylvia heard a saw start up in a garage a few houses down. She immediately looked up at me and said, "Dada." Dan is proud that she relates that sound to him.

fidget

I am announcing the creation of my new blog, fidget.

With summer here I'm hoping to do more sewing. Rather than post all my projects on our family blog, I figured it was about time to start a project blog. All of my previous "creativity" posts can be found on the new blog as well as any new work I do.

I've been sewing mostly nursing covers but I'm planning to expand to more baby and children's items as well. If you're in need of something for yourself or a gift let me know and I'll see about trying something new.

Be sure to add the new site to your list if you want to keep up with what I've been working on.

Playing with Henry

Henry has been spending lots of time with us the past two days as his mom and dad get acquainted with their new son. We enjoy having him over and wish they would have let us keep him longer.

The two enjoy taking turns going down the slide. Sylvia did not actually push him down the slide (this time) although it may look like it.

I had Sylvia sit on this rug to eat a snack one day while I was cooking dinner. It stuck and now she eats most of her snacks on it.

Enjoying some time in the pack and play before nap. It's impossible to keep these two from swapping sippy cups. Those are not the cups I gave them to start with.

Henry and Sylvia have so much fun together as you can see from these two videos. I love they way they play and laugh together. Listen to those giggles and try to stop yourself from smiling.

Dan's guitar playing is always a hit with these two.

A much needed bath after a spaghetti dinner. We even blew bubbles while in the bathtub.

Helping Daddy

Dan and my dad spent the past two weekends building a deck with Sylvia's help of course. Once there were deck board for her to walk on it was difficult to keep her away. She enjoyed bringing daddy all the deck screws he could ever want and more. Dan should be wrapping the project up in the next couple of days, and we'll set up Sylvia's new swimming pool. Then I know we won't be able to keep her inside. Thank you to my wonderful, hardworking, talented husband! It looks great.

Trees

When we purchased our home a few years ago there were no trees in the yard. The previous owner did not like leave in his gutter. We took it upon ourselves to do some planting. We now have three trees in the front yard (white ash, Japanese maple, purple beech) and four in the back (sumac, American elm, burr oak, Eastern red bud).

The elm tree is offically mine while Dan laid claim to the oak. Three years later, and I believe my tree is winning.
