Backyard Camping

One of our final summer list activities to check off was backyard camping.  It was officially still summer on the calendar although we didn't get this one done until after school had started.  Sylvia and Eric helped (to differing degrees) set up the tent.  All three of them played and played in it while Dan got a fire started for dinner.  After some outdoor playing we tucked Drake in inside and got the big kids down in the tent.  Dan and I enjoyed sitting by the fire while the kids fell asleep, then I joined Sylvia and Eric in the tent for the night.

2011 Summer List

I saw the idea of a summer list on a blog I frequent and knew we needed to make one. Summer seems to slip by so quickly each year and I wanted to plan for that. We made a list of all the things we'd like to do this summer, and it has helped me be proactive with the kids and how we spend our time. As we worked on our list, I was convicted how self-centered many of our activities were. So we thought of ways to encourage spending time with other people and serving.
