Cousins Sleepeover

Sylvia's cousins, Margaret (6 1/2) and Katie (7), spent the night last weekend. Sylvia loved having the big girls over

We made individual pizzas for dinner.
Sylvia especially enjoyed putting on as much cheese as she wanted.

Sylvia went down to bed at 8:00 while the girls stayed up playing and helping me make banana bread. They both went down in Sylvia's room an hour later and everyone slept through the night.

We made monkey bread for breakfast. Katie and Margaret did most of the cutting. Sylvia was in charge of dipping the biscuits in cinnamon and sugar and putting them in the pan.

We had a great time hanging out and Sylvia wants the girls to come visit again. I'm a little worn out so we might have to wait on that.

Boy or Girl

We're ready for either. What's your guess?

After a few trial attempts, I enjoyed making these t-shirts for Sylvia and the new baby. I used iron on backing and then drew the letters onto the fabric and sewed around them. Then I cut them out and ironed them onto the shirts. After that, I sewed around them again to firmly attach them to the shirt. I don't think I'll add this to my list of sewing projects but it was fun to make something special for my kids!

Jobs

One of Sylvia's favorite jobs around the house is feeding the fish.

She also enjoys...
-taking the recycling to the garage
-unloading the dishwasher
-setting the table
-adding ingredients while we're cooking and baking
-putting her cloths in her dirty clothes basket
-throwing diapers away
-taking her shoes off and putting them away
-taking her coat off and hanging it up

Hopefully all this helping out around the house will come in helpful when the baby comes.

Fresh Snow

We decided to take Sylvia out in the fresh snow a few days ago after I caught her trying to eat the snow off Dan's shoes when he came in from work.

Eating snow with Mommy.
Shoveling snow with Daddy. Sylvia asked for her purple shovel before we even got outside.

Happy Valentine's Day

Here are the finished Valentine's after a day of finger painting. Sylvia gave these out to her family and a few friends.

This is Sylvia's card for Daddy. I must admit that I saw the idea on another blog and thought it was too cute to pass up.

Sylvia wishes you all a happy Valentine's Day...although she wasn't thrilled about having her picture taken. Thanks for all the love you send our way.

Preparing for Valentine's Day

Sylvia and I spent some time painting yesterday afternoon. We've got some Valentine ideas in mind but you'll have to wait to see the final product.

Finger painting is always a favorite with Sylvia. I have trouble convincing her that all paint is not finger paint.

We also tried out a homemade puffy paint. It's 1T flour, 1T salt, food coloring, and enough water to make it a thick liquid. When you're done painting, pop it in the microwave for 15-30 seconds.

A Visit from Friends

We had last minute company come last week. It was wonderful to spend time with good friends...especially when they cook and clean for you.

Abi taught Sylvia a little about playing dress-up. We have some hand-me-down dress-up cloths from a friend but Sylvia didn't know exactly what to do with them before Abi came to visit.

I took a couple of mornings off from work while they were visiting. We went to Tot Time at the gym on Wednesday and Wee Read at the Coralville Library on Thursday.

Abi, JD, and Sylvia also enjoyed plenty of time to play around the house.

Thanks for coming to visit!
