Snow Day
School was cancelled today because of the weather, so I got to spend the whole day with Sylvia! This afternoon we tried out the snow gear for the first time. She didn't seem to mind, but I think she'll like it better when there's actual snow to play in. She did enjoy slipping around on the sidewalks though.
Birthday in a Box
Last week Sylvia received two large boxes in the mail. One from my friend, Emily, and her son, Parker who live in Texas. The other from my friend, Rachel, and her two children, Abi and JD, out in Pennsylvania. I believe Sylvia enjoyed the packing peanuts the most but she also liked finding the birthday gifts that were hidden inside. I guess one good things about having such good friends live far away is that you get real mail and packages from time to time...although I would much prefer they were my next door neighbors. I miss you both a lot.

1 Year Pictures
Dan and I took Sylvia to get her 1 year pictures taken yesterday as well as a family. This was by far the easiest photo shoot to schedule now that she has establised a napping scheduule. We went at 5:00 so she could have her afternoon nap and dinner ahead of time. Dan had to take off from work a little early, but it was well worth it for a happy baby. Our photographer did not do as good of a job as ones we have had previously but the pictures turned out nicely. My one complaint about photo studios is that they deleat some of the pictures before they show them to you. They only left two of our family pictures to choose from and Sylvia had a funny face in one of them so that narrowed it down. Enjoy our cutie pie. I know we sure do.

Thanksgiving Birthday
My baby girl turned one today. It seems impossible to look back over the last year and remember all the things I have loved about being her mom.
Here are a few favorites (in no particular order)...
Looking down at her face while she is nursing.
Going in to comfort her in the middle of the night.
Seeing her hands reaching up for me to pick her up.
The look on her face when she tries a new food that she likes.
The way she sneezed when she was a newborn and the way she laughs at her sneezes now.
How much she loves to look out the window and be outside.
Listening to her laugh and watching the look on her face when she plays with her daddy.
Taking her for walks in the park.
When she lays her head down on my shoulder.
Singing her to sleep.
Listening to daddy read her books before bed.
Watching her play in the tub and pool.
When she plays with her voice and all the new sounds she can make.
The way she smiles at herself in the mirror.
Watching her walk around with her hands in the air.
The way she held my hand when she was learning how to walk.
When she dances and claps her hands to music.
When she carries her drumsticks around and beats her drum.
Playing games like peek-a-boo, this little piggy, and pat-a-cake.
When she first started scooting around on the wood floors in our family room.
The way she got lint stuck in the creases in her hands and feet.
I thank God for my Sylvia every day and ask Him to help me be a good mother. I feel so blessed to be her mommy. Although I miss her newborn baby days, I cannot wait to see what the next years of her life will bring.
One year stats...
weight - 22lb 8oz
length - 29.25in

Dusting
Two thirds of the bamboo floor in our family room is finished. Sylvia has enjoyed being able to venture out there. We think she likes the sound of her voice in the empty room.
I think I'm going to put her and Dan in charge of the dusting in our house.
