12th Anniversary

We celebrated our 12th anniversary in August.  Nana and Papa were lined up to babysit and Dan was in charge of planning so didn't have a clue what we'd be doing.  I was pleasantly surprised when we pulled into a campsite for an evening outdoors.  It was so nice to sit by the fire with nothing to do but relax and talk.  So glad I'm married to my best friend and that we have so many things we like to do together.

Our 11th Anniversary

After our ride on the Boone Scenic Railway, Dan and I got away without the kids (thanks to Grandma and Grandpa) and spent the rest of the day touring around the Ames area.  We drove by the places we lived in college, ate dinner at Great Plains Pizza (our favorite Chinese restaurant was closed for the weekend), walked around campus, stopped in to take a look at the church where we were married and took a long walk on our favorite trail.  What a great way to spend our anniversary.  So thankful for this man and for our marriage.  I love being married to my best friend.

Our 10th Anniversary

Although it wasn't the big vacation we thought we'd take for our 10th Anniversary, we enjoyed a weekend away to Davenport in August.

We left the kids with my parents and drove through a rain storm Saturday morning.  After grabbing lunch at Panera, we visited the Figge Art Museum.  Dan was more interested in the architecture of the building than the actual art inside.  That is, except for the Frank Lloyd Wright furniture exhibit.  Following the museum we took a walk across the sky bride to the river and checked out the lock and dam.  For dinner we enjoyed some Famous Dave's BBQ and then took a walk through the Davenport Botanical Gardens.  We both wish we had something similar in Iowa City.  I talked Dan into going to Chuck E. Cheese after our walk.  It was late so there weren't a lot of kids there and it was fun to play the games.  Plus we were able to pick up some awesome gifts for the kids!  We stopped back at the botanical gardens and walked through the green houses before heading home on Sunday.  We thought Sylvia would like the pictures of us at the botanical gardens with the giant leaf and the praying mantis.

I'm so thankful for the last ten years of marriage with this man.

St. Louis U2 Concert

Dan and I celebrated our 9th anniversary with a quick trip to St. Louis for the U2 360 concert this summer. It was my year to plan, and a couple of weeks before the concert I decided I would surprise Dan and buy tickets. We left the kids with Nana and Papa and enjoyed a 24 hour get-a-way.

Our stop by the arch on the way to and from the concert.
Before and after the concert. I cannot put into words how much I love this man. I am so thankful that I get to go through this life with him.
I know this is way to many pictures for most of you who are not U2 fans, but I couldn't choose my favorites.

Six Years

Dan and I celebrated our 6th anniversary this weekend. After eating dinner at Hu Hot and watching The Dark Knight we spent our first night away from Sylvia. She stayed home with Nana and Papa, and I didn't even call to check in on her while we were out. God has used our current predicament to refresh our perspective on life. We are more thankful for each other than ever and know that we are so blessed. It has been the best six years of my life and it's only getting better.
