Our Trip to Indy

This past weekend we drove to Indianapolis to introduce Sylvia to Dan's Granny, aunt, and cousin. It was our first road trip and we learned that Sylvia does not fall asleep very easily in the car. However, she did sleep well in the pack 'n play. While we were gone, Sylvia learned to roll from her back to her tummy...now she's addicted. I've found her on her tummy with her head at the other end of her crib after every nap today.

Granny enjoyed holding Sylvia in her arms and listening to her babble. The two of them had some good conversations!

We slathered on the sunscreen for the first time and took Sylvia swimming at The Rivera. Both Dan and his dad swam at The Riv when they were kids. The water was chilly but Sylvia didn't seem to mind.

Sylvia enjoyed spending time on the front porch. Nana and Papa can't seem to get enough of her.

6 Month Pictures

Dan and I took Sylvia to get her 6 month pictures taken today. Sylvia is a pretty good napper but she doesn't have a set schedule yet. That makes it difficult to schedule a good time to get pictures taken. I called a couple of times when she woke up happy from a nap but they never had an immediate opening. So, we made an appoinment and ended up having to get her up a little early. She wasn't quite awake by picture time so we didn't get her biggest smiles but we still think she's cute. It's good to document all the faces she makes...not just the smiles.

Ready for Summer

Saturday was the first day this year that it was warm enough to dress Sylvia in summer clothes from the beginning of the day. I've known lots of babies who don't like sitting in the grass but Sylvia doesn't seem to mind at all. We've been taking walks to the park and stopping to swing from time to time. She even went down the slide with me one day.

Hooray for summer!

Sylvia likes to listen to the birds singing.

I think she's up to something...not sure what but that face is saying something.

Mommy kisses!

Baby feet...I couldn't resist posting these two pictures. Look at those cute little toes.

A Few Favorites

We've been getting out in the yard a lot more now that it's warmer. Here's a picture from one of our first trips to the back yard.

We planted this tree for Sylvia before she was born. Hopefully it will grow up and give us some shade.

Bathtime is lots of fun now. Sylvia is starting to splash around a little more. Good practice for swimming lessons this summer.

What a smile! I think that mouth is going to be doing a lot of talking someday.

Our cutie pie. She found her feet a couple of weeks ago but can't reach them when she's got a diaper on. So, we have naked baby time every once in awhile.

Scooting

Uh-oh, it won't be too long now until she's all over the place. I put Sylvia down on the ground while I got some things done last night. She was on the play mat with her head up by the toys. Next time I looked over...she was where she is in this picture. It looks like she knows she's done something.
(P.S. She is now 17lb 1oz)

Sylvia's New Toy

Sylvia no longer loves to lay on her back all the time. So, like the good parents we are, we bought her another toy. She wasn't sure what to think at first but she's really starting to like it. She plays mostly with the frog and beads right now and reaches for the hanging toys. Eventually she'll be able bounce in it and get herself turned around to all the other gadgets and gizmos. She is five months old today!
