Sylvia's New Toy

Sylvia no longer loves to lay on her back all the time. So, like the good parents we are, we bought her another toy. She wasn't sure what to think at first but she's really starting to like it. She plays mostly with the frog and beads right now and reaches for the hanging toys. Eventually she'll be able bounce in it and get herself turned around to all the other gadgets and gizmos. She is five months old today!

A Spring Day

Spring is officially here...even if it ends up snowing again. I don't usually post so many pictures from one day but I couldn't help myself. Is it rude of me to think I have the cutest baby? Sylvia loves being outside. She is getting used to the wind in her face and doesn't seem to mind the grass at all.

The face of a child...

We have been practicing sitting up. She made it quite a long time before tipping over in the front yard.

Her other new thing is sucking on her bottom lip. It's pretty cute as you can see. Still no teeth but everything goes in her mouth.

Cute little baby legs is what I am looking forward to most about the summer. Sylvia now weighs 16lb 5oz and is 25.5 inches long.

P.S. The hat is my newest Goodwill find!

Swimming

Last time we tried taking Sylvia swimming the water was too cold and so she only got to have water from the hot tub poured on her. I don't remember the last time I requested a pool party for my birthday but I guess things change when you have kids. So, we took Sylvia swimming this weekend for my birthday. She seemed to enjoy it although there were not a lot of smiles. I figure no tears let's us know that it was okay. She wasn't sure what to think when we put her under water. I think she's going to enjoy the pool and the lake this summer!

Thumb Attachment

Sylvia has been finding her thumb a lot more recently. She seems to chew on it more than suck it. When I was getting her out of her carseat the other day, I noticed that her pacifier was stuck on her thumb and she was sucking it. It stayed on for another ten minutes or so before she finally pulled it off.

Sylvia's First Easter

Sylvia seemed to enjoy her first Easter. The three of us went to church on Saturday night. Sunday afternoon we headed to Nana and Papa Broffitt's house along with Grandma and Grandpa Hoefer for an Easter egg hunt and dinner.

Sylvia could hold her own basket with plastic eggs in it but the real eggs made it too heavy.

The eggs were just slightly too big for her to keep a good hold of but she kept ahold of that basket.

Sylvia's Easter basket consisted of things she could chew on rather than candy. I figure that's sort of candy for babies. We're working on sitting up on her own but this picture was taken while she was tipping over.

We actually got Sylvia to look at the camera for this picture as opposed to the TV that is behind me.

Grandma gave Sylvia a book about kisses in her Easter basket. Nana read it to her but didn't choose to give all the kisses the book talks about because most of Sylvia's face was covered in drool. It looks like her little mouth could have some teeth in it soon.
